HAY FEVER Remedies

Hay fever is most often triggered in spring and summer. Often people’s health is disrupted by a change in the seasons – health is about our ability to adapt and cleanse/detox. Seasonal change is marked by changes in the weather, and many people suffer if they are not able to adapt to the change in pollen levels.

Hay fever can be a chronic problem, with acute symptoms – see a qualified homeopath to treat it chronically. It is an over-reaction to the external environment. Common symptoms include sneezing, runny/blocked nose, itchy, watery eyes etc. It is often good to treat it constitutionally in the winter months, so that acute reactions are reduced during the season.

Here are some remedies and their typical symptom picture – which one resonates for you?

How do you sleep?

When was the last time you bounced out of bed feeling full of energy and optimism? If you have suffered from poor sleep for years, you will already have done lots of research on the subject. Knowing how important it is for our long-term physical and mental well-being just makes being awake in the night all the more frustrating. Have you ever wondered why it is that our pets don’t suffer from chronic insomnia? When did you last see your pooch in a black mood having been up all night pacing up and down?

Insomnia or even just poor quality sleep is a very human condition and completely individual. There are hundreds of reasons why people don’t sleep and ultimately the quality of your sleep is uniquely yours: your physical health, your state of mind, and how you prepare for sleep are all factors that you will have examined in your quest for better sleep. And this is where homeopathy can help. There are 1000’s of remedies in our Materia Medica offering holistic support, and eliciting the help of your homeopath could make a huge difference. Together we can look at exactly what factors might be influencing your quality of sleep. There are some excellent and highly effective homeopathic remedies to help.

When you are completely at rest, your body gets down to the business of self-repair – in Traditional Chinese Medicine there are times in the night where the different organs are at their busiest (liver, lungs) so if you are waking at certain times feeling hot and sweaty, it may be that these organs are either in need of support, or you need to look at what and when you are eating and drinking before you go to bed. If you are an emotional eater this is bound to affect sleep as it will be putting more pressure on your digestive system. We can talk about this and explore possible sources of stress, look for simple adjustments to your routine, and I can identify remedies that offer constitutional treatment and organ support.

What is going on in your life? Your age and stage are bound to be important factors in how you sleep. If you are particularly susceptible to any sources of stress sleep can often be the first to go. Anything that has upset your equilibrium will have a bearing – if you are a worrier you will be familiar with sleeplessness in the run up to literally anything, from travel, exams, performance, family gatherings, and any big events involving organisation. The chuntering mind is difficult to switch off at bedtime, or once you’re awake in the night. Periods of hormonal change such as puberty and particularly menopause are notorious for disrupting sleep patterns; Together we can identify some of the most important causes for your disturbed sleep and source remedies which are tailor made for you.

If you would like to give the homeopathic approach a try, do call me to have an initial chat, and we can talk about how this gentle form of support might get you back on track.
